The Spanish Marine Corps unit ‘Tercio de Armada’ has participated for the second consecutive year in exercise ‘Bold Alligator-14’, sponsored by the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps from October 13th to November 10th along 1,600 kilometers in the East Coast.
The Spanish MC units were integrated into a Spanish-Canadian battalion on board the Royal Netherlands Navy amphibious assault ship ‘Johan De Witt’ and the USS ‘Arlington’.
The ‘Tercio de Armada’ has participated this year with several officers at all command levels. Other participating units were the 6th Company of the 2nd Landing Battalion (100 marines), the Reconnoiter Company of the Marine Corps Brigade and the Medical Company of the Combat Support Services.
The scenario envisioned a crisis response operation along the coast, from Chesapeake Bay in Virginia to the north of Florida, with some areas as far inland as Kansas, with support from several military bases and facilities. A wide range of exercises and drills were organized like non-combatant evacuations, humanitarian aid operations, incursions and interventions in forest, urban and marshland areas.
