The Lieutenant Colonel Chief of the General Staff of the Navy Protection Force (FUPRO), welcomes you to the Internet page of the Protection Force Headquarters.

The Protection Force constitutes one of the three components of the Marine Corps Force and specifically it is the one whose mission is to guarantee the security and protection of the set of Bases, Facilities, Centers, Organizations and people of the Navy.

This Headquarters was born with the vocation of assisting the General Commander of the Protection Force in the command he exercises throughout the FUPRO, composed of three Thirds, a Group and a Security Unit. This unit, newly created as a whole, collects the heritage transmitted over the centuries by our ancestors in the function of protecting Naval Facilities.

The Protection Force, heir to those “Old Companies of the Sea of Naples”, created in 1537, takes on the challenge of meeting the physical security needs that the 21st century imposes on us, incorporating technological innovations in search of optimizing the use of the resource human.

Above all, we are sea soldiers and we always will be.

A cordial greeting.

"BRAVE BY LAND AND BY SEA"

The Headquarters of the Protection Force is located in Ferrol (A Coruña), temporarily in the “C.N Moreu Corbera” Building, within the La Graña Naval Station, until its definitive transfer to the old Captaincy General palace

Since 2009, the Navy opted for a Force model in which all Marine Corps units are integrated into the organic structure of the Fleet, the Protection Force, as part of the Marine Corps Force. (FIM), contributes to the Protection of the Force, to maritime interdiction operations and to guarantee the physical security of the people and units of the Navy that are determined.

The Protection Force Headquarters (CG FUPRO) brings together the support bodies under the command of the Protection Force General (GEPROAR).

The CG-FUPRO is structured, first of all, in the General Staff (EM-FUPRO), with the Secretariat sections, the Personnel Section (G-1), and the Operations Section (G-3), which includes the areas of Intelligence and CIS, and finally the Logistics Section (G-4).

Secondly, there are the Direct Assistance Bodies: Personal Secretariat and the Physical Security Office (OSEFA). Finally, there is the Senior Assistant.

The FUPRO Headquarters (CG FUPRO) assists the Commander General of the Navy Protection Force (GEPROAR) in his command of the FUPRO.

Its tasks are:

a) Provide the elements of judgment and data necessary to support GEPROAR's decisions.

b) Materialize GEPROAR decisions in the corresponding orders and instructions, disseminate them and ensure compliance.

The current FUPRO Headquarters is the heir to the Auxiliary Command Body (OAM), which was created by Instruction No. 84/2004, of April 15, 2004, of the Admiral Chief of the Navy Staff, by the The Protection Force is established. Its first headquarters was in the AGRUMAD barracks in Madrid, and its initial functions, under the command of a Marine Infantry Colonel, was to coordinate the different areas of physical security to support the decisions of the General in command, and to control the compliance with his orders.

From that small OAM, established in Madrid, little by little it was expanded in numbers, given the increasingly greater needs of this new centralized Marine Corps Force.

In 2010, the transfer of FUPRO command to Cartagena was ordered, where it was established at the La Algameca Naval Station, in the dock occupied by the Navy Diving Center.

Subsequently, its structure was modified again, and its transfer was ordered again, in October 2019, this time to the General Captaincy Palace of Ferrol. Temporarily, and while the planned works for the Capitanía palace are not completed, it is located in the “C.N.” building. Moreu Corbera”, at the La Graña Naval Station.

As notable events in its history, it is worth highlighting its participation in Operation BALMIS as a Command directly subordinated to ALFLOT, which acted as the Maritime Component Command, in the fight against COVID.
